Earthly is an app targeted towards young adults to gamify practical sustainable habits.
As the user engages in various sustainable tasks that are available in the app the user is able to grow ecosystems within their biome.
Included within the app is an adaptable data visualization of the users carbon footprint based on a quiz. The user can set goals, learn new topics and compare their carbon footprint against the 2030 emissions reduction target.

The Challenge
Earthly was designed not only with aesthetics in mind but also aims to solve a problem through design. The Earthly app has a focus on solving the overwhelming nature of changing unsustainable habits among young adults. The design systems, colors, and UX focus on this goal. Soft approachable colors were used, approachable illustrations were made, and the navigation and information used is minimal and approachable.
Planning
I organized the app to have a simple and intuitive structure. The app prompts a seamless onboarding process and information relevant to gamification lives on the users dashboard. The main navigation stays at the bottom of the app screen to fit the users hand movements across their device. The user flow was designed and tested to ensure that all pages of the app could be easily found and understood.
Wireframing
Low fidelity wireframes were made after the initial ideation, discovery, and sketching process was complete. These were the first visual representations of my idea. These wireframes were to ensures that I had a clear understanding of the functionalities and designs and were based upon the apps user flow diagram.
User Testing
The prototyping of this app includes user centered interactions. These interactions include micro-interactions such as smooth scrolling, parallax effects, and delays. Distinct Hover states were made for functionality and ease of navigation. The prototype was then user tested to ensure that information was clear and that the user could easily grasp concepts.
